Catholic Character

What are Catholic schools about?

Pastoral Care

Leadership

The School Mission: “a catholic school where each child is nurtured to grow as a happy, faith-filled learner who is inspired to achieve excellence”,

is central to the purpose, direction and vision of the school.

The Board of Trustees develop policies and procedures that reflect the Gospel Values.

Staff reflect the Gospel Values within their roles.

The Director of Religious Studies has a significant role in the Leadership structure of the school.

Relationships

Individuals in the school community are valued as evident by the way in which they are treated by one another.

Relationships between the various groups that make up the school community are enhanced and strengthened through effective communication.

Links with external support agencies are developed in order to support the children, staff and families as needed.

Communication

All forms of communication reflect the Catholic Character of the school.

Communication recognises and responds to culture diversity within the school community.

Communication is: positive, open, honest, and where appropriate consultative and collaborative.

Staff

Interact in a manner that reflects the school’s mission statement and the Gospel values

Prayer forms an important basis for the staff community as a whole

Effective communication systems are in place both at a professional and personal level

Professional Development allows for staff to further develop their Catholic faith

Children

Children are supported and encouraged in all aspects of their school day in a way that reflects the school’s mission statement and the Gospel values. The programme of learning children receive reflects the Catholic Character of the school.

Prayer plays an important part in the children’s daily life at school.

Check out the movie that our Catholic Character student leaders made about Pentecost Liturgy held by Tamariki Tēina. Inclusion is central to all aspects of a child’s day.

Parents

Open communication is encouraged and promoted with parents in order that they can be a part of their child’s day.

Parish

St Teresa’s is part of the caring parish community of Otari Parish. The school participates actively in the parish, through liturgy, service and pastoral support.
